Hair Removal Lasers work by emitting a beam of light that passes through the skin and is absorbed by the pigment located in the root of the hair.  This light converts to heat as it is absorbed by the root. The heat created  destroys the root and its cells to prevent further reqrowth.

Since hair is at different stages of growth during your laser hair removal treatments it is important to understand the cycles of hair growth.

The anagen stage is the active stage of hair growth and the stage of growth  when hair is best treated permanently .

The catogen stage is the resting stage or inactive growth stage.

The telogen stage is the shedding stage of the inactive hair where as a new hair is ready to grow in its place.

About 80% of our hair is in a catogen growth stage (inactive) and about 20% of our hair is in the anagen growth stage (active).  For this reason multiple laser treatments will be necessary,  anywhere from 4-8 laser hair removal treatments for permanency or 1-2 laser treatments to reduce an area only.

Our laser hair removal equipment by Lumenis and Cutera utilize patented built in chilling technology to allow for the safest and most effective treatment for all skin types with out the worry of epidermal damage due to excessive heat to the surface of the skin.
